How much electricity does a TV use?

Watching television will generally cost between 16 cents and 30 cents for the standard model. Smaller and more energy-efficient TVs will cost a bit less to run – between 7 cents and 18 cents per hour. Meanwhile larger or less efficient televisions can cost considerably more, between 43 cents and 76 cents to run.

The table below estimates how much the common LED LCD TV costs per hour to watch, factoring in its size and energy efficiency star rating. The table uses data collected energyrating.gov.au and assumes a usage rate of 33c/kWh. Keep in mind that electricity rates will vary between states and providers.

Prophet

As I listened to the scriptures, on my I phone today, I was impressed to study Luke chapter seven; specifically, Luke 7:33-34. The Pharisees believe John the Baptist was possessed with a devil because he did not eat and drink with them and Christ was evil because he ate with publicans and sinners.

Pharisees kept the law of Moses and condemed of others who did not strickly obey every jot or tittle in their laws. They were appalled at Jesus Christ teachings; love your enemies, the poor shall inherit the earth…

Joseph Smith is accused of being a false prophet because of the gold plates (Book of Mormon), and vision of seeing God and Christ. He was deceived by a devil. Just like John the Baptist.

Criticism: We must be very concerned when we see the bad in others. I make it a policy in my life when another brother or sister or enemy is criticized to find good in them. It is a rare person who it totally evil.

What qualities does a prophet possess? They are not perfect. They have opinions. However, when a prophet speaks as a prophet the Holy Ghost manifest to me his words are true. I know the teaching of Joseph Smith. I say to those who question his vanity to study his life and ask God if he is a prophet.

Flee from Babylon

In 1961 I was on a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Eugene Oregon. Brother Powell was inactive in the church. His wife was not a member. They moved from Idaho to Oregon. The Powell’s had been offended by a Bishop in Idaho.

As we taught Lynn her mother was listening in an adjoining room. To our amazement when we completed the lessons Mrs. Powell was ready for baptism. Both Lynn and her mother were baptized.

The Powell’s became active in the church. They left Babylon (the world); coming to Zion. (the pure in heart) They did a great work helping others become active and found great joy and peace taking people to the temple. They drew close to the Lord. The Holy Ghost was their constant companion. The Bishops offence was gone forever. It was replaced with joy in serving others. Their hearts were pure; they were converted; they were truly “the pure in heart.”

They loved me so much. Driving from Eugene, Oregon to Dundee, Florida in an RV to my home at 404 Ridgewood Avenue. It was an epic journey. But they wanted to see Waymon Meadows-their missionary. They loved me with the pure love of Christ.

What joy the Powell’s brought into my life! Tears of joy flow freely as I cherish this memory as an octogenarian. I think, “If this were the only people, I help during my two-years on my mission I would shout Hallelujah!” Thanking my God for the honor and privilege of meeting the Powell’s. Teaching and baptizing Lynn and Sister Powell was more than I can every hope for on my mission.

Brother and Sister Powell has long been gone from mortality. I know they continue their work in the Spirit World helping others get out of Spirit Prison and rejoicing with them as their work is done in the temples; blessing them with ordinances needed for their eternal progression. This is the work in Zion.

I marvel to think that a humble boy from Plymouth Road, Auburndale, Florida has been blessed to serve with spiritual giants like Franklin D. Richards, Don Wood, Hollis Brannen and others. To think they are my friends. The Powell’s and so many others have blessed my life.

When praying to Heavenly Father and feeling His Spirit near me; to feel the love of Christ, and the Holy Ghost is a joy beyond description.

I think of the Savior and those who derided him saying, “He saved others; himself he cannot save. If he be the King of Israel, let him now come down from the cross, and we will believe him.” Yet, Christ said, “forgive them for they know not what they do.”

It was Sister Nixon and Moore who helped save me. They taught me the gospel; the plan of salvation which lit a fire in my bones and continues until today. I hope I will endure to the end and claim my exaltation through the blood of Christ.

I thank God that I ever learned of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saint. Today we see the gospel spreading like a wild-fire throughout the world; temples dotting the earth. Prophecies are being fulfilled daily. The bridegroom is coming to usher in the millennium reign.

Many of the Saints have empty lamps. They must fill their lamps before darkness comes or they will be lost. They cannot borrow oil from others. The lamps are filled one drop at a time as they learn and apply gospel principles in their lives.

Time is sort. Satan is raging in every town and community in the world. The Saints are preparing. They are searching the scriptures; drawing closer to Christ or they will not be able to stand the onslaught of the devil and his angels.

Warn your friends and children to flee from Babylon before it is too late. Do not look back or you will be turned into stone. Wake up Ye Saints of God! Wake up before it is too late! Wake up, fill your lamps with oil before it is too late! The bridegroom is on His way to meet you in the temple. You must have a temple recommend. Repent before it is too late. Come unto Christ and be perfected in Him.

I testify of God the Father, of Jesus Christ my Savior, of the Holy Ghost who testified of God and Christ, of a living prophet who guides The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. The prophet says, “come follow me to Christ.”

The Cost of Ceiling Fans vs. Air Conditioning: What’s the Difference?

July 26, 2012 by Gil 7 Comments

As it turns out, quite a bit. The summer sun is heating up our homes and causing many of us to switch on our air conditioners. Sure, it’s expensive, but it’s the only way to keep cool.

Or is it? Ceiling fans can actually do the job just as well, and the difference in both the energy and economical cost of ceiling fans compared to air conditioners is immense. Last summer the New York Times reported that, on average:

• A central A/C unit runs about 3 kilowatts and costs about 36 cents per hour

• A window A/C unit runs on 1.2 kilowatts and costs about 14 cents per hour

• A ceiling fan runs on only 30 watts and costs about 1 cent per hour

We spend billions of dollars every year on the electricity costs of air conditioning, accounting for up to 15% of the energy used in many homes and even representing up to 70% of the summer electric bill in warm climates.

The energy cost of ceiling fans, on the other hand, is much different. Whereas a 2.5-ton central air conditioner uses about 3,500 watts and a window A/C unit typically uses between 500 to 1,500 watts, a ceiling fan uses only 15 to 95 watts depending on its size and speed.

Looking at those New York Times statistics that compared the cost of ceiling fans versus air conditioning a little further, we can do the math on the monthly costs:

• A central A/C unit would cost about $129.60 per month

• A window A/C unit would cost about $50.40 per month

• Each ceiling fan would cost about $1.20 per month

That’s a whopping 99% decrease in cooling costs when you use ceiling fans instead of air conditioners. But you don’t have to choose one or the other. One of the biggest cost savings of ceiling fans is that they can be used with your air conditioner. Ceiling fans enable you to actually raise your air conditioner settings by as much as 12 degrees while still keeping your home just as cool as if you were exclusively using your A/C unit. You just save money. And although the environmental cost of ceiling fans can’t be measured as specifically, making the switch from air conditioning to ceiling fans has an incalculable effect on our natural resources as well.

In addition to only costing about a penny an hour to run, ceiling fans are easy to use. Just like turning a light on and off, a ceiling fan doesn’t need to run when you’re out of the room. It cools you by triggering evaporation from your skin and, since they force hot air down and away from you, a ceiling fan can actually make you feel about 8 degrees cooler.

If you have sticker shock from your last electric bill and want to learn more about the difference in both the economic and environmental cost of ceiling fans, call us toll-free at 877.724.2326.
